I leave for Mexico in the morning

so I thought now would be a good time, while not packing or freaking out, to explain the title of my blog (because a good first entry always does that, right?).  From what I hear, we'll be reading a lot of Sor Juana (Mexican poet-nun-lesbian?) while in Cuautla, and I hope you'll be reading about me while I'll be reading Sor Juana.  But mostly it's just a – mildly inappropriate – quote from one of my favorite books:

"Una noche me desperté y María estaba cogiendo con una sombra.  Ya está bien, dije, quiero dormir tranquila.  Mucho leer a Sor Juana, pero te comportas como una puta" (Los detectives salvajes by Roberto Bolaño, 174).

That last sentence translates to something like: You read a lot of Sor Juana, but you act like a whore.

And, um, I should clarify that, although I'll be reading a lot of Sor Juana, I have no intentions of acting like a whore.  And although the best laid (ha) schemes of mice and Mexican foreign exchange students go oft awry, this is one change that won't make the blog, deepest apologies and

Goodnight.
